This work was commisioned in the post WWII years to review the structures and layout of the existing city of Edinburgh and to then establish a plan for regeneration. This is a colossal work with large black and white photographic plates, diagrams and pull out maps.
It is split into 4 parts:
Part I - Civic Review - A history and description of the current city
Part II - The outline planning principles evolved - population redistribution, transport, zoning and industry
Part III - Detailed studies of planning principles - planning, urban architecture, Leith and Portobello, eduction, recreation spaces and villages
Part IV - Further studies reviewed - Population, housing, roads, recreation spaces, festival centre.
Condition Notes
The book is in very good condition - there are some minor blemishes to the dustcover - a small tear tp the bottom front and some light fraying around the edges but otherwise the inside pages are bright and clean throughout.
