  • Additional Product Information

Monart Glass was made at the Moncrieff Glassworks founded by a Spanish Glass blower Salvador Ysart and was in production from 1924 to 1961.

With his 4 sons he was orginally employed by John Moncrieff to make laboratory glass. Monart glass was created out of the two names - Mon(from Moncrieff) & art(from Ysart).

During the late 20s & 30s these strongly coloured glass pieces became extremely popular until production was halted during WW2. Production only recommenced in 1947 and with the bold colours hard to obtain, the later production consisted of more sober pieces.
