A stunning Edwardian silver and amethyst paste stone thistle flower Bookmark - The makers initials C&N Crisford and Norris of Birmingham and although marked silver next to the maker it is not hallmarked and therefore unable to date precisely. However we are able to date this piece to c1910 - Edwardian.

A paste stone is a synonym for glass when used in jewellery or ornament manufacture. Glass has been used as a gemstone imitation since ancient history for obvious reasons: it’s transparent, can be colored in many ways and resembles all kinds of gemstones when polished.
