An Antique Silver & Agate Dirk Kilt Pin
A magnificent late Victorian silver & agate Kilt Pin fashioned in the form of a Scottish Dirk. Set with round cut quartz stones to a banded agate body, the Celtic design silver mount with hinged pin to reverse. There is no hallmarking which was not an unusual for this period.

Scottish dirks are the traditional and ceremonial weapon of the Highland warrior, and are typically worn by officers, pipers and drummers of their regiments. They find their roots in the 16th century ballock or rondel dagger, and occupy a unique niche in Highland culture and history.

In fine condition with tight pin mechanism.
This is a second hand antique jewellery piece and will have some imperfections. Antique jewellery was primarily hand crafted(modern jewellery is more often than not cast made). They are therefore unique pieces.
