    Alexander Carlyle  (1722-1805) was a Scottish church leader, serving as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1770/1.

    He was educated inm Theology at Edinburgh and Leyden in the Netherlands.

    He witnessed the battle of Prestonpans as a member government Edinburgh militia in 1745.

    From 1748, until his death he was minister at Inveresk in Midlothian (south west of Prestonpans)

     

     

  • Condition Notes

    A good copy - some light stains on teh bottom of the front cover board and some fraying/creasing at the top and bottom of the spine. There is some looseness at the end plate joints both front and back

    The inside pages are bright and clean generally with some age- related tanning throughout. There is a water stain on the Frontis portrait plate opposite the title page.
