    By a little known Scottish Poet this collection of 41 poems was his first publication and published anonymously. The poems are are all written using rhyming structures.

    Robert Bird was born in Govan, Glasgow in 1854, and distinguished himself at Glasgow University by taking honours in Scots Law and gaining a prize in the English literature class for a poem on the Glasgow Statue to Burns. After passing as a procurator, he joined his father in practice in Glasgow in 1878.

    This was the author's own copy with is signature, date and address and has some newspaper review articles glued into a spare blank title page(see image). There are also the author's own inked annotations against many of the poems.

  • Condition Notes

    This small quite cheaply produced book remains well bound and very usable - the boards are somewhat stained and frayed and bumped around the edges and at the corners but still offer the protection of the inside pages that remain clean and bright throughout.
