Iain Mac Colla / John MacColl (1815-1861) was originally from West Laroch in Ballachulish. He was a slate quarrier until forced to stop through bad health after which he focused on his poetry and songs as well as painting watercolours.
Condition Notes
A handsome book with a fine leather binding with gilt embellishments. There are a few defects relating to the inside pages - the front end cover has the top 25% missing(cut out) and the same for the spare title page - seems like someone has simply tried to cut out a previous owner name or dedicace. There is also a previous owner name and address in ink above the first poem page. Otherwise this is a good sound copy of a rare book.
