    With 89 different chapters the starts with the story of Prince Gathelus(described as wild and gay and wicked) and finishes with George IV. There is a list of Kings and Queens from Duncan I at the end of the book with 20 full page colour illustrations. In his preface( "Why this book was written") H. E. Marshall says: "yes there are fairy tales here, and I make no apology for them , for has not a grave and learned historian said there ought to be two histories of Scotland..."

    This very handsome large book has some light fading and wear and tear to the cover boards however it has maintained its overall quality. The inside pages are bright and clean throughout with just the usual age-related tanning of the paper.
