Alan Temperely with the aid of Pupils from the Farr Secondary School set about collecting and gathering 58 stories from local people in the villages of the north-east coast of Scotland and concern historical dramas, fairy tales, great battles, shipwrecks, ghost stories and highland rogues and the tragic clearance of Strathnaver. All the stories were illustrated by the pupils.
