Between 1893 and 1895 Jakob Jakobsen from the University of Copenhagen conducted exhaustive investigations into the remains of the old Norse language in Shetland. This volume covers the 2 lectures he prepared into his findings and were delivered in both Shetland and in Denmark on his return resulting in him gaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.

A fine and well bound volume in extremely good condition with a finely embellished cover.

The well spaced inside pages have age-related tanning but are otherwise extremely well preserved and clean.
