Duncan. 1st Softcover Edition. 705pp. This book was the the first straight history of Scotland from Pre-history to 1286 to be published since 1862 and cover in detail the incursions and amalgamations of races who made up the Celtic Kingdom, the impact of the Vikings and the forging of a single Kingdom.

     

    Volume 2 - The Later Middle Ages by Ranald Nicholson. 1st Softcover Edition. 695pp. From the close of the 13th century to the Battle of Flodden the book is an analysis of the facts of all the varied and intricate aspects of Scottish Medieval Life.

     

    Volume 3 - James V-James VII by Gordon Donaldson. 1st Softcover Edition 1978.  449pp. The book considers this period to be the subtle transformation into the Scotland we are now more familiar with.

     

    Volume 4 - 1689 to the Present by William Ferguson. 1st softcover Edition 1978. 470pp. Considered a comprehensive guide to the evolution of Institutions and Society into the modern Scotland (until 1977).

    These are used books but remain in excellent condition and very usable - Volumes 1 and 3 seeem hardly opened at all. There are some previous owner names and bookplate but all copies are annotation free and world be extremely good value working editions for a student or academic.
